Semi-final day with a golden Hunter moment

Day 22 - August 9

I'm nervous and I'm not even playing so I would hate to know how Simon Orchard, Suzy Batkovic and Jenni Screen are feeling.

I suppose, being a couple of hours away from an Olympic semi-final it would be a mixture of nerves, excitement and pure adrenalin.

The Kookaburras take on Germany in the hockey at 3.30pm in a 1-2 in the world battle.

The Opal meets the USA, which has been the gold medal match at the past three Games, in the basketball at 5pm.

Good luck to all.

And yesterday it finally arrived, the Hunter's first gold medal of the Games.

The mates from Wangi Wangi had an unassailable lead heading itno the final race so they got on board for a victory lap and collected their medals on the way out.

Congratulations Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen.

Also yesterday, Merewether’s Richie Campbell scored two goals but it wasn’t enough to stop Serbia from claiming an 11-8 quaarter-final win against the Sharks.

The Australian men’s water polo team now meet three-time defending Olympic champions Hungary in the classification semi-final for positions five to eight on Friday.

Lastly, four blokes in a canoe just picked up Australia's sixth medal of London 2012 - you beauty!
